After growing up in South Africa and marrying a Scottish man, I found myself in England practicing full time care for the elderly here in the Chew Valley. I have suffered with polymyalgia rheumatica for years and had been prescribed with a cocktail of drugs to help combat the symptoms, which never really gave me the mobility that I craved to lead my incredibly busy life.

Whilst on a visit to South Africa I had treatment at a laser clinic to help my knees and the results for me were instant. The speed of recovery and the final outcome was so incredible that I wasted no time and decided that my next business venture was to be involved with laser therapy.

On researching the Bioflex Laser system I went to Canada, completed an extensive training course and brought home three laser machines to start up my own clinic. We now run a friendly, successful clinic with the aim to provide the care and therapy needed to rehabilitate people who are looking for effective pain relief.

After committing 25 years of my working life to a major Bank and bringing up my family who are almost grown up, I decided now was a good time for me to have a change in career.

I have always had an interest in nursing but the timing was never right, so when the opportunity arose to join Chew Valley Laser Clinic I jumped at the chance to be involved in this new venture.

I’ve had personal experience of low back pain and was involved in a skiing accident which has damaged my knee so I fully appreciate the pain and frustration when your body is not at full capacity.

I’m passionate about helping people and have recently finished my level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology and have had extensive, hands on training in Ontario, Canada to use the low intensity lasers we have here at our clinic. Each treatment is individual and tailored to specific needs. I love the fact that I learn something new from each treatment and thoroughly enjoy spending time with the fantastic people who come to us.

Assistant Manager & Laser Therapist

Whilst bringing up my 3 children I have worked part-time in the Banking and Housing sector although my interest has always been in complimentary therapies. As my children have become less dependent I feel I am now able to follow my passion and have successfully completed a level 3 Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology and level 1 Reiki. I am presently training to be a reflexologist with a view to studying Indian Head Massage and Swedish Massage.

When I was offered the opportunity of working at Chew Valley Laser Clinic I decided it was the perfect time to embark on a new career. I believe Laser Therapy is an incredibly effective complimentary therapy and will fit in wonderfully with the other therapies I am studying.

Since accepting my role as a laser therapist I have completed my training in Canada and am excited to be part of such an innovative new venture.

I have a keen interest in health, wellness and exercise and have level 4 Diploma in Holistic Massage Therapy. I am a certified Laser Therapist as well as a qualified fitness instructor and personal trainer.

I am very enthusiastic in guiding people to adopt the correct mind set in respect to lifestyle choices and to encourage their journey on this path. A healthy body and mind go hand in hand and is paramount to well-being which is something I feel very strongly about. As part of my on-going education I am currently studying chiropractic and my vision is to consolidate my qualifications to bring a holistic approach to the body, not only curative treatment but preventative too.
